Decaf Sugar Cane, Colombia

Jericho's seasonal decaf slot currently holds El Yalcón, grown by small scale producers in La Plata and named after the indigenous people who lived in the area before the Spanish conquest. It is produced collectively by 36 farms of 1 to 5 hectares, all above 1,500 metres, and every lot is cupped before selection. The caffeine is pulled out using chemicals derived from sugar cane, a process carried out in Colombia. Jericho found it juicy, bold and full bodied. Biscuits, nuts and milk chocolate.
